Álvaro Domecq Romero was born on April 8, 1940 in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain. He died on November 18, 2025.

His career marked the evolution of bullfighting on horseback and the international promotion of the Andalusian horse.

He made his public debut on September 13, 1959, in the Ronda bullring, and retired for good in 1985 in Jerez de la Frontera. Throughout those decades, he developed his own style, earning him recognition as one of the revolutionaries of bullfighting on horseback .

In 1975, he founded the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art , an institution that has trained generations of riders and projected the image of the Andalusian horse internationally . This center, based in Jerez, became one of his greatest sources of pride and a world reference in dressage and equestrian art.
