He was later found dead in his motel room.
  • According to the Arizona Daily Sun of Flagstaff, AZ, Tuesday, September 13, 1977, an autopsy was performed on Dollarhide and it was found that despite the accident with the horse, he officially died of natural causes, specifically, cirrhosis of the liver.
