Biography

  • Born in Aracaju, SE, Brazil, in 1972, Milton do Prado enrolled in a Medicine Program at Universty in 1990. In 1992, although, he took part in Cineclube Fantomas, a co-op group that used to show classical movie in 16mm, study films and produce experimental fiction videos. In 1993, he left the medical world to study Communication.

    In 1994, he moved out to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, and since 1996 he has worked as a film editor and producer, mainly. He also worked as a curator in a repertory film theatre (Sala P.F. Gastal, 1999-2000), and was president of the Association of the Film Makers of Rio Grande do Sul (APTC/ABD-RS, 2001-2003).

    Between 2003 and 2004 he worked as a University teacher at Unisinos. In 2004, he founded, with Fabiano de Souza, Gilson Vargas e Gustavo Spolidoro, the Production Company Clube Silêncio, which made films such as Cão Sem Dono e Ainda Orangotangos, among others.

    He lived in Montreal between 2004 and 2008 and has a MA degree in Film Studies from Concordia University (Montreal)

    Back to Porto Alegre in 2008, he took back his work at University teaching editing. Since 2012 he directs the undergraduate program in Film Production (Curso de Realização Audiovisual) at Universidade do Vale dos Sinos, Unisinos.

    He has also his own production company with Fabiano de Souza, Rainer Cine, and is also one of the editors of the independent film review Teorema.
