Biography

A popular radio comedian in the 1940s and 50s in Britain, Reg Dixon's signature tune was 'Confidentially' which he wrote himself. A burly figure he wore a trilby hat his catchphrase was 'I'm not well, I'm proper poorly.'

In the 1950s he took over from the film comedian George Formby in the stage musical 'Zip Goes A Million' at London's Palace Theatre. He made several minor films and many television guest appearances later in his career.

He wrote his famous song 'Confidentially in 1949 when it rose to the top of the hit parade, selling over a million copies. The same year, he became the resident comedian on radio's 'Variety Bandbox' and was chosen to appear in the Royal Command Variety Performance. In 1952, he took over the lead in 'Zip Goes a Million' from George Formby at London's Palace Theatre and appeared in that year's Royal Command performance.
