The character Dignan portrayed by Owen Wilson in the Wes Anderson feature film Bottle Rocket (1996) and short film Bottle Rocket (1993) is named after Stephen Dignan who went to school with Anderson and Wilson.

Stephen Dignan went to high school, the St. Mark's School in Dallas, Texas, with Owen Wilson, Andrew Wilson and Luke Wilson. Another alumni was Tommy Lee Jones.
