- Barry Devlin was born on November 27, 1948 in Ardboe, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He is a writer and director, known for CODA (2021), My Mother and Other Strangers (2016) and Menage A Trois: Jet Set Superstar (1980). He has been married to Caroline Erskine since October 9, 1982. They have three children.

- Prior to joining Horslips, Devlin had trained in a seminary and had once considered becoming a Priest. Rock and roll seems to have won him over instead!.
- His sister Marie is married to the poet Seamus Heaney.
