Minnie Devereaux(1869-1923)

Minnie Devereaux was born in what is now Oklahoma. She was Cheyenne and a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. She was born Minerva Burgess and attended the Carlisle Indian Industrial School from 1880 to 1884. She married Oliver Provost and became known in Hollywood as Minnie Provost. She worked with Mack Sennett, the Lincoln Motion Picture Company, and Edwin Carewe. She was best known for her role as the Indian woman who attempts to nab her equally overweight future husband Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle in Fatty and Minnie He-Haw (1914). She also played a Black servant in The Coward (1915), and in Mickey (1918) she acted alongside Mabel Normand. She died on June 5, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
