  • When he was 9 years old, he was moments from being captured by Thrill Killers Leopold and Loeb. Outside of his school he stood on the same corner where Leopold and Loeb would kidnap Bobby Frank moments later. Frank arrived on the corner and Deutch suddenly remembered that he had a dentist appointment and left. He admits to this day that if he hadn't remembered the appointment that he would have been killed too.
  • Had a lifetime friendship with Ronald Reagan.
  • Was the great grandson of Julius Rosenwald who was the CEO of Sears & Roebuck.
  • Due to his status as a Sears Roebuck heir he was the intended victim in the famous Nathan Leopold / Richard Loeb murder case. He usually walked home from school but on that day the family chauffeur picked him up for a dental appointment, so the two killers selected little Bobby Franks as their victim instead.
