In 1999, director Thampi Kananthanam announced a film titled Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain with Arvind Swamy and Urmila. When Arvind left the film Bobby Deol was signed. The film had a mahurat. But the film did not progress further. Latee Vashu Bhagnani took that title and remade Tholi Prema as Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain with Tusshar and Kareena Kapoor.

Dharmendra had met child actor in 1983 and was so impressed with him. He wanted to remake the film Escapade In Japan with Jugal Hansraj and his young teenage son Bobby Deol. But Dharmendra finally dropped the idea because he did not want Bobby to become a child actor.
