Biography

Lisa Dempsey is a dynamic personality who has forged a career as both actress and stunt performer with more than one hundred projects to her name. She brings calm focus to every production she sets foot on and is a trusted collaborator with directors and stunt coordinators, and is respected for her dedicated preparation and screen-ready performances.

Her earlier blockbuster features include "Heat," "Titanic," "Minority Report," "Charlie's Angels," "Venom," "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Sully," "Jurassic World," and Netflix's "Wine Country" among many others. As a stunt person, she has doubled for many actresses, including Gillian Anderson, Patricia Arquette, Liza Minelli, and Stockard Channing, among many others. Her longest running tenure as a stunt double is with Academy Award Winner, Kathy Bates. Some of her notable television credits are "American Horror Story," "Modern Family," "Scandal," "Obi-Wan Kenobi," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "Reno 911," to name a few.

Noteworthy tidbits that have happened during her time on sets include getting a piggy back ride from Director Francis Ford Coppola while working on "Jack," and leg wrestling with comedienne Melissa McCarthy on "Mike and Molly." She is not related to Jack, Tom or Patrick Dempsey, but she is to Haley, her daughter. In addition, Dempsey is ambidextrous and has an impressive wig collection.

Prior to her Hollywood career, Dempsey was an athlete who competed in triathlons and enjoyed open water swimming. Inspired by Wendy Leech Armstrong (Margot Kidder's stunt double) in "Superman II," she desired to be a stuntwoman after watching the Niagara Falls action sequence in the movie. When she moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles to pursue her dream career in feature films, television and commercials, one of her first jobs was on the highly popular "Baywatch." Talented and motivated, Dempsey has not stopped working since.

Raised in Northern California, Dempsey is the daughter of a retired high school athletic director/football coach and a medical office manager. She graduated from California State University, Chico, with a BA in Information and Communication Studies. After college she worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago, developing corporate training materials for the audit practice before swapping training manuals for stunt pads to pursue her love for performing on screen. ***
