- Found a letter on the body of a North Vietnamese soldier in the A Shau Callet in May 1968; which he turned over to the Vietnam Veterans of America. The VVA has a program that helps gather information on soldiers lost in the Vietnam war. As stated in his latest book "Up Country", Mr. DeMille hopes that a family in Vietnam has learned the fate of a missing son, husband, or brother because of the letter he sent back.
