- Nelson Richard DeMille to Huron Flora DeMille and Antonia Panzera. Mr. DeMille served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and earned the rank of First Lieutenant. Part of that time was served during the Vietnam War (in Quang Tri Provence, from November '67 to December '68). During his army career, Nelson was awarded with the Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Air Medal. In 1970, Nelson received a BA in Political Science and History from Hofstra University. He was also awarded the Estabrook Award from Hofstra. Mr. DeMille has written more than 10 best-selling novels; including "The Charm School", "The Cathedral", and "Up Country", another novel The General's Daughter (1999) was been made into a motion picture starring John Travolta. Nelson DeMille is married to Ginny DeMille and has two children, Lauren and Alexander.

- Found a letter on the body of a North Vietnamese soldier in the A Shau Callet in May 1968; which he turned over to the Vietnam Veterans of America. The VVA has a program that helps gather information on soldiers lost in the Vietnam war. As stated in his latest book "Up Country", Mr. DeMille hopes that a family in Vietnam has learned the fate of a missing son, husband, or brother because of the letter he sent back.
