- Former newspaper correspondent, photographer and inventor. Moved to California in 1936 and wrote a syndicated column entitled "In Hollywood With Philip De Guard". He first worked in animation for Walter Lantz before joining Warner Brothers as background artist where he was primarily associated with the Chuck Jones unit. He was known to be a very quiet and private individual, nicknamed 'Mashed Potatoes,' because he had almost a nowhere personality.".
