- Joseph S. DeBeasi is a BMI Award-winning composer and conductor whose work is defined by a sophisticated blend of evocative electronic textures and traditional orchestral mastery. Known for a cinematic language that prioritizes melody and harmonic subtext, DeBeasi’s scores embody the emotional heart of contemporary storytelling.
His career is highlighted by his collaboration with Clint Eastwood on the Oscar-nominated American Sniper, for which he received a BMI Film Music Award. Following this success, his work on the survival epic Alpha (directed by Albert Hughes) was listed among the Top Ten Best Scores of the year by Film Music Magazine.
Beyond the screen, DeBeasi is a respected presence on the podium. He recently served as guest conductor for the US Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus, conducting his American Sniper Suite at Skywalker Sound for the Soundtrack of the American Soldier album. His symphonic commissions, including One More Minute and A Thousand Faces, premiered to critical acclaim through the Sinfonia project, bridging the gap between cinematic soundscapes and the concert hall.
Complementing his compositional work, Joseph’s deep technical expertise was forged as a music editor on some of the most sonically influential films of the last decade, including The Revenant, Sicario, Wind River, and Prisoners.
An honors graduate of Berklee College of Music, Joseph is a frequent lecturer on film composition at institutions such as Belmont University and the Nashville Composers Association. He is a recognized Steinberg Artist and currently operates from his studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
