Biography

Jose De Vega was born on January 4, 1934 in San Diego, California, USA. He was an actor and assistant director, known for West Side Story (1961), The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and Island of the Lost (1967). He died on April 8, 1990 in Westwood, California, USA.

Son of a Filipino father and a Colombian mother, an accomplished dancer and choreographer. He is well remembered as the scorned and vengeful suitor Chino from West Side Story (1961) as well as Tatu, the Indian youth in To Kill a Buffalo (1966) and Ernie Gordon, friend of Chad Gates (Elvis Presley) in Blue Hawaii (1961). Also featured in dozens of other mystery, suspense and comedy television series episodes.
