A visionary designer for theater, opera, & ballet, but few films. She
created sets and costumes for collaborations with Luchino Visconti,
Franco Zeffirelli, Giancarlo Menotti, Tony Richardson etc. Her career
spanned only the 1950s and 1960s. She then retired to paint and teach.
Her painterly style has affected many younger designers to this
day.
