- Ruby de Mel was born on December 4, 1917 in Kaldemulla, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. She was an actress and writer, known for Pipena kumudu (1967), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Sonduru Yuwala (1965). She died on November 9, 2004 in Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka.
