- From a Carlist family, count of Rad de Varea, he was an officer in the French Foreign Legion during WWI and fought in the Spanish Civil war in the Nationalist side. A friend of writer Pierre Benoît, he became co-director of Pour don Carlos because of his intimate links to the subject. Member of the Resistance in WWII, he was captured, tortured, released and died in Lisbon.
