  • Some sources say that he was the first hip-hop artist to use Hong Kong-style action in a music video. The video 'Ya Playin Yaself' was shot in Hong Kong where he worked with some of Asia cinema's martial arts legends that included action director Dion Lam (The Storm Riders, Exit Wounds, Spider-Man 2).
  • He introduced his unique rap style on Gang Starr's (rapper Guru and DJ Premier) 1992 album, 'Daily Operation' and hooked up with them again to make his first two solo albums, 'The Sun Rises in the East' in 1994 and 'Wrath of the Math' in 1996.
  • He took on the stage name, Jeru the Damaja because he damages the microphone.
