Windsor Davies(1930-2019)

He was named after the local colliery in Ogmore Valley, and, at 16, followed his father in working down the pit .He left after a few years and became a teacher, then did his national service with the East Surreys. Windsor did two years teacher training in Bangor, then taught History and English in the Elephant and Castle in London where he met Lynne, his future wife, a nurse. When he was 32, his wife persuaded him to pursue his dream of being a stage actor. The casting director of the Royal Court Theatre got him into Cheltenham Reportary at £10 a week which started his show business career. He married Lynne Eluned in 1956 and had five children, setting up home in Leek, in Staffordshire. He is best remembered for the television series It Ain't Half Hot Mom, in which he acted for ten years, plus another seven years in the series Never the Twain.
