Danny Kaden

  • As a director he shot numerous movies in his first years.
  • The director and actor Nunek Dankuy was born as Daniel Kirschenfinkel in Warsaw. Beside his pseudonym Danuky he also often used the pseudonym Danny Kaden.
  • After the end of World War I Nunek Danuky returned to Poland where he got on his film career but was not able to continue his former success.
  • He joined the film business in 1913 where he was active as a director, actor and screen writer from the beginning. For the movie "3 x 3 = 1" (1913) he took over all three functions. In the next years he especially realised numerous movies as a director and till 1914 he also was a regular actor in front of the camera.
  • With "Das Hemd" (1917) and the Polish production "Usmiechy zycia" (1927) came his last cinematical works as an actor into being.
  • When the German Wehrmacht invaded Poland Nunek Dankuy was arrested in 1940 because of his Jewish ancestry and put into the Warsaw ghetto. Two years later he was shot dead at the age of 57.
