Bengt Danielsson was born on 6 July 1921 in Krokek, Östergötland län, Sweden. He was a writer, known for Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), Villervalle i Söderhavet (1968) and Gauguin in Tahiti: The Search for Paradise (1967). He was married to Marie-Thérèse Sailley. He died on 4 July 1997 in Tahiti.

Together with his wife, Marie-Thérèse, he received the Right Livelihood
Award in 1991.

Was for many years director of Sweden&#39;s National Museum of Ethnology in
Stockholm.
