Biography

Graciela Daniele was born on December 8, 1939 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a writer, known for Mighty Aphrodite (1995), Everyone Says I Love You (1996) and Bullets Over Broadway (1994).

Naturalized U.S. citizen.

Has been nominated for Broadway's Tony Award ten times, but has yet to win. Her nominations are: as Best Choreographer, in 1981 for "The Pirates of Penzance;" in 1984, for "The Rink;" in 1986 for "The Mystery of Edwin Drood;" in 1990, with Tina Paul for "Dangerous Games;" in 1991 for "Once on this Island;" in 1993 for "The Goodbye Girl;" in 1996 for "Chronicle of a Death Foretold;" and in 1998 for "Ragtime;" as Best Director (Musical), in 1991 for "Once on this Island;" and in 1996 as co-author of Best Book (Musical), with Jim Lewis and Michael John LaChiusa for "Chronicle of a Death Foretold."

Daniele was born to Raul Daniele and Rosa del Carmen Almoina. After her parents divorced, her mother got a job as a secretary for the Argentinian government. Later, her mother became an actress.

Was exposed, at a young age, to music and poetry by her aunt.
