- After WWII, Dick played professional football for the Los Angeles Bulldogs (1946) of the Pacific Coast Professional Football League, then the Los Angeles Dons (1947-1948), and the Chicago Rockets (1949) in the All-American Football Conference (AAFC). In 1950, the AAFC merged with the National Football League, Dick became a free agent, but he ended his football career at that time.
- Around 1950, Dick rejected an offer from the Leo Burnett Ad Agency to become the 'Marlboro Man' because he didn't want to promote cigarette smoking.
- Education: (1) Hickman High School, Columbia, Missouri. (2) University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, California, B.A. Degree.
- During 1942-1946, Dick served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he rehabilitated wounded combat soldiers. He also recruited, coached, and played for the Army football team.
- Dick received a military funeral and burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
