A skilled actress,dancer, and linguist, Ardelle Dabney worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as one of the first female sleeping car attendants (Pullman Porters); she later became a licensed chiropractor with offices in Harlem. Her daughter Malvina "Babykins" Dabney also went on the stage as a child actress.
