Nicholas D'Agosto was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He is the son of Alan and Deanna D'Agosto, and the middle of five children (two older brothers, two younger sisters). He began acting when he was eleven years old, and was a senior at Creighton Preparatory School when he was cast in Election (1999), which filmed in Omaha in 1997. He later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend college at Marquette University, graduating cum laude with degrees in History and Theatre. He is an active member at Antaeus Company in Los Angeles, and supports the charity "The Life You Can Save". He lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife and young son.

He hired an agent after his sophomore year at Marquette, when the movie, "Election", came out. Decided to complete his undergraduate degree (double major in History and Theatre)at Marquette University, graduating in 2002, before pursuing his acting career full-time.
In preparation for his role of Ben in the movie, "Rocket Science", he and fellow actress, Anna Kendrick, studied with a college debate coach and attended a two-day debate camp in Baltimore to learn the terminology, understand how debaters stand, and how they breathe.
To prepare for the part of Dr. Haas (Masters of Sex, 2013), in addition to reading the biography that Masters of Sex is based on, read "The Fifties" by David Halberstam. Also watched movies from the 1950s and documentaries on journalist Edward R. Murrow, which had individual footage of interviews with everyday people from that time period.
Graduated from Creighton Prep in Omaha, Nebraska. Director Alexander Payne, also an alumnus of the school, gave Nick his first break by casting him in "Election."
Studied poverty and race issues in the Dominican Republic for a semester when he was a student at Marquette University.

I'm realizing for the first time, your life goes on while you're trying to pursue this career. I saw my career as everything. But you have this life, too. Living your life fully, you come to know yourself better. You'll find the place for it.
I like going to museums and stuff, but I also like going out and doing lots of physical activity like camping and hiking. I like doing stuff that I've never done before. Curiosity is a big thing. Usually it means that people are intelligent and that they want to learn stuff about the world.
The business can be frustrating. For me, Omaha is a rounding foundation. I was raised in a very faith-filled household, very hardworking. It made me aware of what privilege is. And it's a place I can go back to, spend time with nieces and nephews, celebrate the things that have nothing to do with the hubbub of Hollywood.
When I meet a girl, I just sort of do really over-exaggerated terrible dance moves... a lot of hip movements. I get them laughing, and get them to feel pity for me, and then they like me!
You know that thing when you're not asleep but you're not awake, and you can't move your body? I had that kind of nightmare, and I felt like all my teeth were crumbling in my mouth. Now I have this fear of all my teeth being knocked out of my mouth somehow!
