Biography

Rudy Cárdenas is known for Canto a las Américas (1943), The Colgate Comedy Hour (1950) and International Cabaret (1964).

Recipient of the International Jugglers' Association Historical Achievement Award in 1995.

Born into his mother's Circus Suarez family in Mexico, Cardenas learned to juggle at a young age. At 8 years old he became the first act ever to open at the El Patio, the largest nightclub in Mexico City. At 10, he was working at Rio de Janeiro's La Urca, the most famous casino in the world at the time.

Known as the world's best juggler in the 1950s and 1960s.

In 1948, he burst onto the world stage with an appearance in Miami, which led to a 5-year contract with Paramount Pictures. He was voted best novelty act of the year twice and was the only act ever featured on the electric billboard at Times Square in NYC.

He won the Rastelli Trophy in Italy, appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show The Ed Sullivan Show (1948), toured with Bob Hope, and performed for three presidents of Mexico, Winston Churchill, Richard Nixon, Princess Grace Kelly, and Queen Elizabeth II of England.
