- Hugues Cuénod was born on June 26, 1902 in Corseaux, Vaud, Switzerland. He was an actor, known for Turandot (1987), Love Reinvented (1996) and On Such a Night (1956). He died on December 6, 2010 in Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland.
- Holds the record as the oldest person to make a debut at the Metropolitan Opera, singing the Emperor there in Turandot in 1987.
- In celebration of his one hundredth birthday, he was awarded the World of Song award for 2002 by the Lotte Lehmann Foundation.
