János Csányi

  • Between 1955 and 1957, he studied singing at the Postások Erkel Ferenc Music School, and from 1958 he continued his studies privately with Emília Posszert and Kálmán Hetényi .
  • Between 1966 and 1969, he was contracted by the Capital Operetta Theatre (Budapest Operetta Theatre).
  • From 1969, the Opera House (=Hungarian State Opera House) featured him as a private singer.
  • János Csányi was a Hungarian singer ( tenor ) and actor.
  • In 1962, he performed for the first time as an opera singer at the National Theater in Pécs.
  • On the occasion of his 90th birthday, his son, László Csányi, wrote a book entitled The Life of János Csányi about the career of the artist.
  • He was awarded with the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit, and he received also the Smetana and Bartók-Pásztory awards.
  • The tenor, was originally trained as a car mechanic.
  • Between 1959 and 1961, he became a singer and actor at the Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár.
