Biography

Glenn Thomas Cruz was born in Manila, Philippines. His parents immigrated to the U.S. when Glenn was 4yrs old. He grew up on Staten Island, New York City. His mother is a doctor and his father an accountant.

In his sophomore year of college he took a juggling & clown class. It reminded him how much he loved performing in school plays at St Joseph St Thomas Elementary. He continued taking acting classes throughout his time at Binghamton University. He graduated from Binghamton with a B.A. in Political Science. After graduation, he put off law school to train at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Completing Stella Adler, he was offered an internship at the Off-Broadway Jean Cocteau Repertory Company. They perform classical plays in repertoire sometimes three different plays a week. He found this experience fundamental to his growth as an actor.

Glenn's early career was spent in the downtown NYC theater scene working with companies LaMaMa ETC, Partial Comfort Production, Clubbed Thumb, Ohio Theater & The MAD. Co. The MAD Co. is a physical theater company founded by Joan Evans. They develop & perform movement & dance pieces throughout the New York area.

From 2006-2015 Glenn took a step back from acting. During this time he worked full-time as an analyst for Citigroup, taught & directed plays and assisted in Stella Adler's after school Shakespeare program for inner city high school students. He found working with the high schoolers some of the most rewarding work he has been a part of. He also traveled back to the Philippines during this time. This experience was life changing. He was re-introduced to aunts, uncles & cousins. He was reminded how big was his family on both sides He was made aware of the sacrifices his parents made. What they had to give up to bring their two young sons to the U.S. He came away from his time in the Philippines with a deeper connection to his Filipino roots & cultural. He came away with a greater sense of identity.
