Biography

Sophie Crumb was born on September 27, 1981 in Woodland, California, USA. She is known for Ghost World (2001), Crumb (1994) and Arena (1975).

Daughter of underground legend Robert Crumb and Aline Kominsky-Crumb. Younger half-sister of Jesse Crumb. Niece of Charles Crumb and Maxon Crumb. Granddaughter of Beatrice Crumb.

In her comic book "Belly Button Comics," she refused to put her last name on the book because she wanted the comic to sell as a stand-alone piece (and not because of the fame her father has).

Moved to France at the age of six with her parents. Learned French so she would fit in better.

Performs comedy, acrobatics and handstands, and plays the piano.

(On following in her father's footsteps): "If you compare me to him, I'll stop drawing right away. He's the best, so how can I be like that?"

If I don't draw for more than a day or two I feel depressed and useless.
