Elder Reg Crow Shoe and Rosemary Crow Shoe were awarded the C.M. (Members of the Order of Canada) on May 19, 2022 and invested on June 21, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They live in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada. Esteemed Elders of the Piikani Nation, they have advanced reconciliation efforts across Canada. For decades, these spiritual counterparts have guided all levels of government, institutions and non-profit organizations, and helped them to establish best practices and develop a cross-cultural understanding of Indigenous history, traditions and perspectives. As ceremonial grandparents and experts on traditional knowledge and practices, they have preserved and celebrated their Blackfoot culture across Canada and around the world with unwavering compassion and dedication.
