Biography

Robert X. Cringely was born on January 28, 1953 in Apple Creek, Ohio, USA. He is a writer, known for Triumph of the Nerds (1996), Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview (2012) and Nerds 2.0.1: A Brief History of the Internet (1998). He is married to Mary Alyce Neader. They have three children. He was previously married to Leslie Patricia Elliott.

Mark Stephens uses the name Robert X. Cringely but didn't CHANGE his name to Cringely. And he use the name because he was asked to do so by a former employer. He was the third Cringely at InfoWorld, where there have been at least 10 more since they fired him in late 1995. He continues to use this name having won the right to do so in federal court.
