Biography

Judith Crawley was born on April 12, 1914 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She was a writer and producer, known for A Study of Spring Wildflowers (1946), Social Development (1950) and Picture Making at the Gang Age (1951). She was married to F.R. Crawley. She died on September 16, 1986 in Canada.

First woman director whose film won a Canadian Film Award, for The Loon's Necklace (1948).

She served as President of the Canadian Film Institute from 1979 to 1982.

She was the first Canadian woman to direct a colour film, called Four New Apple Dishes (1940).
