Biography

  • Leila Cravo was born on November 23, 1953 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was an actress, known for Corrida do Ouro (1974), Gargalhada Final (1979) and Brutos Inocentes (1974). She died on August 5, 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Trivia

  • On the night of 12 November, 1975, she was found unconscious and with several injuries on a curbside nearby a motel room, of which she fell five stores down. She was found by a taxi driver. The press immediately thought of a suicide attempt after acquaintances of the actress mention that she had tried to kill herself in other occasions. Her escort at the motel was businessman Marco Aurélio Sampaio Moreira Leite, who reported to the police he had left hours earlier before the incident. She stayed in coma for a couple of days, still injured and with partial vision in one eye. Around 2022, two years after her death, an investigative reporter gathered more information on the case and revealed on a podcast series that the businessman invited another man to the motel, a powerful minister from the cabinet of then president Ernesto Geisel - whose name was never disclosed. She refused his advances, and she was beaten, raped and thrown out of the motel window.
