James Crane was born on August 9, 1889 in Rantoul, Illinois, USA. He was an actor, known for The Mummy (1932), One Night at Susie's (1930) and Sinners (1920). He was married to Alice Brady. He died on June 2, 1968 in San Gabriel, California, USA.

Darkly-featured character actor of stage and screen. On Broadway from 1917 and in silent films with Paramount. Acted in a handful of sound pictures, best known as Pharaoh in The Mummy (1932).

His son, Donald, was born in 1922.
