Biography

Paul Coyne was born in Boston, Massachusetts but grew up in Milford, Massachusetts, where he experienced a quintessential suburban childhood. He credits this time in his life with his ability to produce shows that the average American is entertained by. Coyne attended Fitchburg State College, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he studied film and TV. He first worked as an assistant editor, then editor, and finally as a producer of a number of reality shows and documentaries. He has twice been nominated for the Emmy Award, for his work on Survivor and Beyond Scared Straight. He has received 4 consecutive American Cinema Editor "Eddie Award" nominations, winning for the MTV series If You Really Knew Me.

He has worked on several top reality series, including Survivor, The Amazing race, Big Brother, The Bachelor, Beyond Scared Straight and The Joe Schmo Show.

Coyne is a member of American Cinema Editors, the Motion Picture Editors Guild and the Producers Guild of America, among other film and TV organizations.

A person of many interests, Coyne has trained to become a professional Scrabble player, is a known expert on diner history, is a photorealist painter, has been involved in cancer charities for two decades, and funds creative arts scholarships at his high school and college alma maters.

A film history buff, from the silent era to today, he is known for his nearly photographic recall of movie trivia.

Passionate about genealogical research, Coyne has traced more than 17000 of his daughter's close and distant ancestors. These include Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, several passengers on the Mayflower, a number of presidents and even Lady Macbeth. Citing On the Road as one of his three favorite books, Coyne was pleased to discover that Jack Kerouac was his 5th cousin.
