- After his split with Yoko Ono, Cox remarried, and he and daughter Kyoko Ono Cox (renamed Rosemary) followed his new wife into a cult called The Walk. Cox and Kyoko/Rosemary eventually left, becoming fundamentalist Christians, and helped produce a film documentary exposing the cult.
- Re-emerged from hiding briefly in late 1985, giving an interview to "People" magazine on the condition that his whereabouts not be revealed. (An accompanying photo showed him greying, with a full beard.)
