- In 1978, he recorded the time announcement for the U.S. Naval Observatory Master Clock, which as of 2016 can still be heard by dialing (202) 762-1401 or (719) 567-6742. His voice was originally recorded on mechanical machines, but transferred to digital media later.
- Did a near perfect Rodney Dangerfield impersonation, as well as a very entertaining magic act.
- Served in the Korean War for two military groups: he was a corporal in the United States Army, and an Airman Second Class in the United States Air Force.
