Gareth Cousins is a highly experienced score mixer, music editor, composer and producer trusted by Hollywood directors and studios for over three decades. From mixing the Oscar-winning score for Gravity to delivering the sonic impact of Fury, Suicide Squad, Dark City and Notting Hill, Gareth has shaped soundtracks that have generated over $4 billion at the global box office. Starting at EMI’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, he now offers elite music services for film, TV, games and theatre worldwide.

Gareth began his career in the music industry at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios, where he worked as a recording engineer and producer. During his tenure at Abbey Road, he kindled his deep passion of sound mixing and production, developing skills that would later define his career. Transitioning to freelance work in 1993, he focused mostly towards score mixing, composing, music editing and music production for film, television, theatre and video games.

His work on Gravity (2013) marked a significant milestone, as the film's score, composed by Steven Price, won both BAFTA and Academy Awards. Gareth’s passion to craft immersive auditory experiences has also been showcased in films like Baby Driver (2017) and Last Night In Soho (2021), where his love of balancing dynamic soundtracks with narrative pacing was evident. Throughout his career he has also composed music for all media.

Beyond film, Gareth has collaborated with prominent musicians across various genres, including rock, pop, electronica, and classical, and has been involved in projects with iconic artists such as Phil Collins, Elvis Costello, Vanessa-Mae, Bond and Sting. In 2004, he formed Gareth Cousins Music, through which he continues to produce music for diverse media.

Gareth strives not only to master his craft but also to innovate, constantly pushing the boundaries of sound mixing and production with passion and creativity, at all times striving to enhance the emotional impact of visual media through sound.
