  • Alan Coton was born in Mexico City; after living in Spain for some time, in 1990, he registered at the University Centre for Film Studies ("Centro Universitario DE Estudios Cinematográficos") of the National Autonomous University ("Universidad Nacional Autónoma") of Mexico. Where he specialized as a film director and screenwriter. During that period he made three short films in 16mm and a feature film, also in 16mm . He began the professional direction of Educational Television programs produced by the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE) and the UTE from the Secretary of Public Education. Meanwhile, in the same year he produces the short film "Adela Despierta Despierta" (35mm) by Erika O. Grediaga with the support of Cuec, Imcine and Fonca. In 2000, he finished his feature film Sofia, where he worked with Angélica Aragón, Damián Alcázar and Martín Lasalle, and he won the award for Best Foreign Film at the New York International Independent Film Video Festival in the United States. Nevertheless, due to the bad management of the film producer, it was not release until 2003 by the 20th Century Fox. As a filmmaker, Alan Coton has signed 8 feature films, 7 released in theaters and one of them for television. In the same way, he has dozens of episodes of series for television and streaming. He is a member of the National System of Creators of Arts through the National Fund for Culture and the Arts, Mexico, since 2009.
