Biography

Frank Corsaro was born on December 22, 1924 in New York City, New York, USA. He was an actor and director, known for Play of the Week (1959), Cold Storage (1983) and Live from Lincoln Center (1976). He was married to Mary Cross Lueders. He died on November 11, 2017 in Suwanee, Georgia, USA.

He taught at and directed the American Opera Center at Juilliard.

Directed the 1953 off-Broadway revival of Percy MacKaye's "The Scarecrow".

He attended the Yale School of Drama and directed a production of Sartre's "No Exit" in 1947 while still a student there. In 1950 he joined the Actors Studio, and for a while pursued acting. He had small roles in several Broadway productions in the early 1950s as well as a few TV appearances.

He believed that opera singers should also be good actors, and incorporated film and other multimedia into his opera productions, sometimes arousing controversy.
