A vested member of SAG AFTRA since 1988, he began on Bay Area stages before expanding into screen work, bringing a grounded presence to every role. His film credits span studio features and indies alike, including Mishi, (2026), The Crooked Tree ( 2026), The Church of Tin ( 2026), Water Weight (2025), Good Boy (2024), I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022), Wages of Sin (2022), Blue Jasmine (2013), Copycat (1995), The Rock (1996), Stigmata (1999), (Being Us (2013), and Red Tails (2012). Richard is featured as one of the talent scouts in Ariana Grande's number one music video PETAL, released in 2026. On television, he has appeared in series such as Looking, Nash Bridges, The Evidence, and Silk Stalkings, and Midnight Caller. In the last half of 2025 and thru 2026, Richard completed ten short films in New York City - all lead roles - each slated for release in the coming year. This concentrated burst of work highlights a new chapter of creative momentum and showcases the range and depth he brings to contemporary independent filmmaking. Onstage, Richard has taken on roles with emotional heft and complexity, including Pale in Burn This, John F. Kennedy in The Memoirs of JFK, Moss in Glengarry Glen Ross and Dad in The Dreamer Examines His Pillow. He also starred in the original stage production of the play Tiger Lady, opposite Paige O'Hara in Los Angeles in 1992. His work is marked by a blend of intensity, wit, and lived in authenticity - the kind of performances that feel inhabited rather than performed. Now based in New York City, Richard continues to work across mediums, bringing decades of craft to new stories and collaborators. He is married to actress and playwright Kathryn Keats and is the father of three.
