Was in the Ford Lincoln Continental together with her husband, then-Texas governor John Connally, U.S. first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and U.S. president John F. Kennedy when the latter was assassinated in Dallas, 22 November 1963.

[on the Warren Commission's single-bullet theory (that the President and the Governor were both hit by the same bullet)]: Well, they're wrong. I was there, they weren't. When they argue with me, all I have to say is 'were you in that car?' The answer has to be no because there wasn't anybody else.

[on being part of the event of 11/22/1963]: I push it to the back of my head. I can bring it out any time I want, but I know it's not constructive. It was such a sad day. We all wanted to be there to begin with, but if you'd been in that car, believe me, you would never ever want to be there again.
