- Born and raised in New York City, Alberto Colombo served as a cellist with the Manhattan Opera House Orchestra, and later became the manager. He toured with Paul Whiteman, as an arranger, before joining RKO as a music director in 1934.
He joined Republic Pictures in 1937 as an arranger, conductor and composer. He worked at MGM as a music director from 1950 until his death.

- Hollywood dateline - April 11, 1938: Albert C. Colomba, orchestra conductor and composer, has signed a three-year pact with the L. Wolfe Gilbert Music Publishing Compoany, giving them all rights to his compositions, both for pictures and publication. Colombo is currently musical director at Republic Pictures.
