Maxie D. Collier is named after his late father Dr. Maxie T. Collier, MD one of the first African-Americans to graduate from Vanderbilt University, and eventually, the first African American Health Commissioner in Baltimore. Maxie D's son is named Jahsun Maxie Collier.
