Streaming Stars, Then and Now

John Coates was born on 7 November 1927 in Reigate, Surrey, England, UK. He was a producer and production manager, known for Heavy Metal (1981), The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends (1992) and Yellow Submarine (1968). He died on 16 September 2012 in Longfield, Kent, England, UK.

Co-founded TVC London with <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0242945/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">George Dunning</a> in 1957.

Best known for producing the film The Snowman and he was working alongside <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0109076/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Raymond Briggs</a>.

He served in WWII as an army officer. He was a film distributor in Asia before returning to England and beginning to produce animation.
