Is twice a descendant of Jean-Baptiste Colbert and of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, by his mistress Charlotte Desmares, an actress from a theatrical family. Philippe II was a nephew of Louis XIV and a descendant of James I, King of England, Scotland and Ireland, twice a great-grandson of Margaret Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, also being a distant nephew of Catherine of Aragon.

Daughter of Antoine Louis Guy, Comte de Clermont-Tonnerre of the Marquises de Clermont-Tonnerre (b. Lyon, 18 Jun 1941), and Marie Martine Chaussin (b. Paris, 5 Jun 1945).

The director's favorite film is Paris,Texas by Wim Wenders, which she sees as a bridge between the gaze of a European movie maker and the mythology of the remote, wide open spaces in the United States.
