- Her modeling career also took off, and she found herself working on high fashion photo shoots, traveling around the United States and Europe. Other projects found her in Japan, Italy, Switzerland, France, Argentina and Mexico. Through her travels, she learned to speak both Spanish and Italian quite well.

Character actor Vincent Schiavelli came up with the idea of his character Mr. Vargas having a beautiful blonde young wife on the spot while the sequence was being filmed. He choose Lana Clarkson from a line-up of extras to portray Mrs. Vargas.
- At the age of eighteen acquired her SAG card on the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), this being her first speaking role in a feature film. Her introductory lead role was in the movie Blind Date (1984), filmed in Greece, starring Kirstie Alley. While filming Barbarian Queen (1985), in Argentina, she quickly picked up on sword fighting.
