- Interesting people make interesting actors. Travel, immerse yourself in other arts, play outside, learn something new.
- I use Chekhov Technique to help actors reach emotions so they don't have to re-injure themselves through painful memories. Acting can be very healthy and encourage the best aspects of humanity: artfulness, curiosity, compassion, reinvention, emotional availability and resilience.
- I once told Sue Chappel, mother of Julia Sarah Stone, that I wished I could teach only actors who were as artful, dedicated, rigorously disciplined and talented Julia. She replied, why not do that? I did that immediately. I dropped everyone I had who didn't meet that criteria. It is hard to say good bye to artists I really like who are a little lazy but it's much more fulfilling to teach the greats. Sometimes I only have 10 private students but I am always excited to teach them.
